On Wednesday, September 25th, the PEXIM Foundation organised an event in honour of its alumni to officially send off this year’s scholarship recipients for their master’s studies. Held in the warm ambiance of the vibrant “Meeting Point” venue, the event gathered past and new scholars, providing an opportunity for experience sharing and inspiring conversations.
The event was attended by many distinguished guests, including the British Ambassador Edward Ferguson, and the Serbian Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begović. Their presence emphasised the importance of international cooperation and support for young talent.
PEXIM’s new Director, Stefan Anđelović, as well as Tijana Gajić, Director for Mentorship Program at PEXIM, and Uroš Živković, Program Director of Returning Point, addressed the students, alumni and attendees. Their remarks focused on the importance of education and investing in young leaders who will contribute to the development of their communities. On this occasion, the newly awarded scholars also had the opportunity to share their impressions and the goals that inspire them as they continue their education.
The highlight of the event was the scholarship provided by the Returning Point, in collaboration with the PEXIM Foundation. This valuable initiative enabled Marija Nedeljković, one of the selected scholars, to begin her academic journey at the University of Cambridge, where she will be studying the Data Intensive Science program.
Marija shared her expectations and goals during the event: “Cambridge is a place where I will meet many people and build connections. However, since my goal from a young age has been to return to Serbia and enhance my home community, I am eager to apply the new approaches and knowledge I will gain at Cambridge. I hope that, in a few years, I’ll also be able to support other young people in achieving their ambitions.”
The Talent.Ecosystem initiative, launched last year by Returning Point in collaboration with the Fund for Young Talents, aims to create a platform that supports young talents in Serbia and abroad. Marija Nedeljković’s scholarship is just one of the ways in which Returning Point contributes to the professional growth and empowerment of young professionals.
This event once again underscored the importance and impact of joint efforts to provide young talents with opportunities for growth and to realise their potential, with the hope that they will one day return and contribute to their communities.
