Honoring International Mother Language Day: New Information on Learning Serbian on the “Parents’ Corner” Platform

Today we are celebrating International Mother Language Day, a holiday established in 2000 at the initiative of UNESCO, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of mother language and multilingualism, reminding us of how crucial it is to preserve language as the foundation of cultural identity and national heritage.

On this special day, we are proudly presenting a new section on the “Parents’ Corner” platform, fully dedicated to information on learning the Serbian language. This section is designed to help parents returnees find all the necessary resources for learning Serbian, both before arriving in Serbia and during the settlement process. Given that, during our meetings and conversations with returning parents, we have noticed that many are concerned about how their children will adapt to the Serbian educational system, especially if they are not sufficiently familiar with the Serbian language, we have created this section where you can find resources that will help your children master the language and prepare for school, either before or after arriving in Serbia.

The section includes information about various options for learning the language – for both children and adults, including online courses, mobile apps, and other useful platforms. This way, learners of all ages and skill levels can prepare for an easier transition into the Serbian educational system and everyday life.

Through “Parents’ Corner”, we aim to help parents returnees and their children connect with the mother language and our culture. As Duško Radović once said: “Love the Serbian language every day, a little bit at a time. The Serbian language has no one else but us.” Our platform provides all the resources and support you need to preserve this precious part of our cultural heritage.
